Privacy
Your conversations belong to you.
Private chats are end-to-end encrypted by default. The keys that can read them are created on your devices. Zam Zam servers are not designed to hold a readable copy of those keys.
How encryption works-
Direct chats and groups
Direct chats and Saved Messages are always end-to-end encrypted. Groups and private channels are too, by default.
-
Files included
Photos, video, voice messages, and files in those chats are encrypted on the device before they are uploaded.
-
Not every surface
Public channels and stories are not end-to-end encrypted. The security page explains what the service can still see.
Devices
One account. All your devices.
Zam Zam is built for phone, tablet, and desktop. Each device creates its own keys. Public downloads are not open yet.

Stories
A day, then they're gone.
Share a photo, a video, or a short text with people you already talk to. Stories last 24 hours. Story text is stored for delivery and is not end-to-end encrypted.
-
People you know
The usual audience is people you already have a direct chat with.
-
Then they expire
Stories are removed after 24 hours.
Groups
A group with someone in charge.
Create a group, invite people with a link, and choose owners and admins. Group messages are end-to-end encrypted. Public channels are readable more widely, and they are not end-to-end encrypted.
-
Roles
Owners and admins can manage members. Ownership can be transferred.
-
Invite links
Share a link to let someone join.
